Workshop description:
"bla bla bla, bla bla bla". That's what a scene too often looks like. As improvisers, we often fear the silence because we think that nothing is happening anymore. That's not true ! Many times silence is the best line we can tell ! More than 70% of the communication goes through our body and our behaviour. Isn't it a proof that words can be useless ? Our actions, our look, our emotions, tell so much. Don't panic, we'll talk in this workshop ! But we'll also learn to answer by silence. A living silence meaning much more than a verbal line...
Instructor Bios:
Dan practises theater for 20 years. He began to study improv 10 years ago in Strasbourg in particular with Marko Mayerl. He was part of several groups in Strasbourg including Theatre de L'Oignon. Since a few years, he participate regularly in diverse European festivals, playing shows in English and studying with teachers from the whole world, as Keith Johnstone, Patti Stiles, Joe Bill or Lee White. He took as well IO intensiv workshops with Lindsay Hailey and Jason Shotts. He trains also to the Meisner technic since january 2015 with Keith Farqhar.
In other significant events, Dan participated in the improv marathon (accumulated 193 hours, 24 hours a day during 7 days) with Inédit Théâtre in 2011 and coached a French team in 2014 and 2015. Dan adores all the types of improv, whether it is short, long or free form, as we see on stage the connection between the partners and the pleasure to play. He is now and forever a member of La Carpe Haute, a professional group he created in 2012 with his best friends.
Last but not least, he is very grateful when we pay him some drinks!
